Saltine Impressions

Cody Sullivan presents Saltine’s Impressions. A parody of an art history lecture, Saltine tells the origin stories behind some of the most iconic works of art and literature in the Western cannon. Is Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf a masterpiece of stream of consciousness writing or a by product of a coke addiction? Is The Thinker by Rodin a depiction of man contemplating the human condition? Or is it a representation of a morning poop? Through a slide show and impressions of the artists discussed we see the history of art through Saltine's distorted vision.

Saltine's creator Cody Sullivan is a graduate of Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Since moving to Chicago four years ago he has become a house performer at the iO Theater; currently performing with Dreamboat, an all queer identifying Harold Team and began a weekly show at the Juicebox Theater creating fully improvised plays. Sullivan's work as Saltine includes performance art and theater and has been written about in such publications as The Windy City Times and The Pultizer Center. A writer as well as a performer, his radio play World Series and the live recordings of his monthly radio show Saltine's Newsletter, which was included in the 2019 Chicago Podcast Festival, can be found at www.saltinesnewsletter.com.

Pepper Pepper Presents serves to promote performance, theatre, dance and art which inspires and engages the queer human spirit.
