Calling all artists! SOMArts is thrilled to announce a new partnership with La Pocha Nostra, collaborative production company of the legendary Guillermo Gomez Peña. This year, members of La Pocha Nostra will host one of their international performance workshops at SOMArts.
As LPN’s largest project in San Francisco this year, this workshop is geared for all artists interested in exploring the concept of the “city in ruins” and artist-driven responses to the politics of urban land-use. Workshop exercises will focus on the human body in relation to the built environment and architecture and involve the creation of interactive, performance installations inspired by the workshop’s themes. The results of this 10-day pedagogical experiment will culminate in a two-day public presentation featuring work by workshop participants.
