Join us for the more performative side of Butoh College! In a spirit of collegiate risk and adventuring, we have asked each of our invited international artists to share a more Informal butoh-inspired dance or improvisation—with or without costume, sound or composition. In addition, we have invited a number of local and regional artists to share a work in the same vein. How can we study and experience the kinesthetic intelligence and imaginative presence of the artist whose work has been deeply influenced by the butoh lineage and training? What are the qualities beyond the associated aesthetics of the form? What do the artists have in common? How do they differ?

Thursday, March 31; 8pm Diego Piñón with local artists Mizu Deiserto, Douglas Allen, Christopher Mankowski, and The Dreaming Body Dance Collective.
Saturday, April 2; 8pm Yumiko Yoshioka with local/regional artists Mizu Deiserto + Stephanie Lanckton, Sheri Brown (Seattle), and Helen Thorsen + Mary Cutrera (Seattle).
